ACT, a spin-off company of Frog Navigation based in Utrecht, the Netherlands, is an expert in developing and marketing equipment navigation control and terminal operation control hardware and software for complex logistics systems and processes using automated vehicles and equipment. Applications, for example, include straddle carriers, shuttle carriers and automated guided vehicles as well as traffic management and control systems.
ACT will be integrated into Kalmar’s dedicated business unit, Kalmar Intelligence & Automation, which focuses on the marketing and development of onboard smart features for container handling equipment, integrated control systems and remote maintenance products in cooperation with customers and partners. The unit also runs a state-of-the-art automation test facility to better aid the integration of its intelligent applications with its customers’ container handling equipment and terminal operating systems.
Kalmar has delivered and now supports a fleet of close to 1,000 applications such as container verification, positioning and monitoring systems, remote service monitoring software, and reporting systems.
