Euroseas Ltd., an owner and operator of drybulk carriers and container ships, said Thursday its agreed to purchase a midsize container ship for $24 million, bringing its fleet to 14. The ship is under a period charter that extends until July 2009, at a rate of $16,500 per day. Delivery of the vessel, which has a capacity of 30,400 deadweight tons, is expected between Sept. 15 and Oct. 10. Shares rose 14 cents to $14.25 in afternoon trading.
