Port of Vyborg to start transshipment of containerized cargo in November 2007

In November 2007, port of Vyborg owned by Oslo Marine Group starts transshipment of containerized cargo including motor car components, RBC reports referring to Sergei Semenov, deputy Commercial Director of Onega terminal. It is supposed the ports of loading will be those of the Baltic Sea (negotiation is carried out with three ports, not being disclosed). Volumes of transshipment and range of cargo re being discussed. Negotiation are also carried out with potential consignees of motor car components as regards organization of cargo delivery.

The port of Vyborg was founded in 1293 on the crossroads of waterways between Finnish Gulf and navigable system of the Saimaa lakes and the Vuoksa river. Vyborg sea port was privatized and Joint Stock Company Commercial Seaport of Vyborg was created in 1992. From 2005, the port is known as Port Vyborgski LLC. From 2007 it is owned by Oslo Marine Group. Oslo Marine Group was set up in 1999. Its parent company isScanMarineConsulting Ltd. The group’s major business is insurance, leasing, real estate, handling and sale of timber, port services. The Holding’s assets total RUR 8.5 billion.
