Stormy weather in the Kerch Strait prevents the start of the operations on lifting the sunken vessels, Alexander Davydenko, head of the Federal Agency of Marine and River Transport (RosMorRechFlot) announced according to RIA Novosti. The operations can be started when the waves are less than 1 meter high, while today it is one and a half meter high with the wind speed exceeding 6 meters per second. According to Mr. Davydenko, RF Transport Ministry has worked out the plan for lifting the sunken vessels. It is decided to use pantones sunken near the vessels and fastened by divers. Then the water is to be pumped out of the pantones and they are to be filled with air. After the vessels are lifted the decision will be taken on whether the water is to be pumped at the site or in the port. On November 11, the storm caused ten accidents with cargo ships in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
