Golar LNG is a leading independent owner and operator of LNG transportation with more than 30 years of experience. Their core business is transportation of liquid natural gas (LNG). The company’s fleet presently consists of 9 ships, 8 of which are wholly owned, and 1 partly owned (60%). Golar LTD is registered in Bermuda with offices in London, Singapore and Oslo.
“Most of the suppliers for the re-building projects are situated in Europe. There will thus be many large component shipping’s world wide to the re-building shipyards in Singapore. In addition substantial air freight and containerized freight will be necessary”, says Glenn Edvardsen in Grieg Logistics.
The FSRU-ships will be used as floating reception terminals for LNG. Conventional LNG ships unload the gas in liquid form to the FSRU unit. The unit then regasifies the cargo by using an onboard installation before the gas is sent ashore though a pipeline.
"We look forward to running this project with all its exciting challenges, transports and deliveries during the two year period", says Edvardsen
