Russia and Bulgaria agree on direct railway ferry link via port Kavkaz and Varna

Russia and Bulgaria has signed an agreement today on organization of a direct international railway ferry link via the port of Kavkaz and Varna, PRIME-TASS reports. In the presence of the two presidents the document has been signed by the heads of the two Transport Ministers – Igor Levitin and Peotr Mutafchiev.

The project of the agreement has been approved today by the Government of Bulgaria. According to the governmental press center, direct railway ferry link between the port Kavkaz and the port Varna will widen the possibilities for the use of efficient and environmentally friendly transport in development of the two countries’ bilateral trade relations.

The document regulates marine transportation between the countries, specifies the marine and railway carriers to arrange the link and regulates the issues of technological compatibility of the two ports. The operational control is to be carried out by the Council for operation of international ferry link between the port Kavkaz and the port Varna.

The agreement is open for the third persons. It is based on the principles of equality, national sovereignty, mutual benefit and interests, the report underlines.
