Gov't may cut fishing quotas for research

The Russian government will review the motion of the State Fishing Committee to cut fishing quotas for scientific purposes, RBC reports. Yesterday, a source in the government said the committee suggested a considerable reduction to a level required to monitor bio-resources. However, the committee is simultaneously suggesting that the financing of bio-resources research should be hiked from the current level of some RUB 1bn (approx. USD 40.6m) to RUB 5bn (approx. USD 203m).
