On January 19, the Kherson Shipyard laid down the body of a river tanker of TIOLI type for VEKA Shipbuilding Service B.V. (the Netherlands).
Ukrainian News learned this from the report of the enterprise.
This vessel is the first one in the series of this kind of ships; the enterprise concluded a contract with VEKA Shipbuilding Service B.V. for building the vessels in 2007.
A TIOLI river tanker is intended for transportation of chemical products. It is 110 meters long, 11.5 meters wide and its hull height 4.7 meters.
At the moment, the shipyard is working on two orders, building TIOLI tankers for VEKA Shipbuilding Service B.V.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the shipyard's portfolio of orders is full until 2009.
On December 19, the Kherson Shipyard laid down body of a river chemical tanker for the Zanen Shipbuilding B.V. company (the Netherlands).
The shipyard is contracted to build four hulls for this kind of ships in 2008.
On November 9, the Kherson Shipyard delivered to customer the hull of POLFOSS reefer, the last reefer the shipyard was to built under the MM 80 Reefer MK II project for Norway's Myklebust Prosjekt AS.
After the privatization, the Kherson Shipyard has been focused on repair of ships and the order from the Norwegian company was its first full-component construction order.
In 2006, the shipyard made a net profit of UAH 74,000.
Kherson Shipyard deals with repair and construction of ships, particularly tankers with deadweight of up to 30,000 tons, as well as replenishment vessel of the ice class, ore carriers, container ships, multi-purpose dry cargo ships, and drill ships with drilling depths of up to 6,500 meters.
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine permitted Pivdenrudmet (Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region) to buy more than 50% in Kherson Shipyard.
