Owners of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port plan to raise the company’s container throughput from 168,000 to 1 million containers, Interfax-Yug reports according to Yug.Ru. According to the source, the company’s throughput fell by 3.6% in 2007 to 71.7 million tonnes.
NCSP OJSC spends $700 for the increase of the terminal’s capacity. The company plans to raise oil shipment by 15 million tonnes (or 300,000 barrels) per day. Besides, NCSP is to build a ground for transshipment of 2.5 million tonnes of alumina imported by RusAl. The terminal is likely to open in 2010. As of today NCSP completes negotiation on purchase of 50% of Baltic Stevedore Co., operating in the port of Baltijsk (Kaliningrad region).
