Shekou CT showcases CIQ cold storage at Shenzhen West Port

The CIQ Designated Cold Storage of SCSI inauguration ceremony and the Western Port Cold-Chain Business Promotion Seminar were jointly held on January 16 in South China.
The event organised by Shekou Container Terminal, South-China Cold Storage & Ice Company, and China Merchants Maritime & Logistics (Shenzhen) (CMML) attracted more than 200 from CIQ Shekou, China Merchant Holding Incorporation (CMHI), as well as from shipping lines, shipping agents, vendors and operators of cold chain logistics services based in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
The inauguration ceremony and seminar followed the official registration of South-China Cold Storage as a CIQ Designated Cold Storage facility for imported refrigerated goods at the end of November last year.
The opening of the new cold storage facility at Shenzhen Western Port was intended to end the monopoly that had been in place up until then by providing an alternative storage site for refrigerated imported goods as well as related cold storage logistics services, a SCT statement said.
Noting the customs efficiency, geographic location, competitive pricing and multi-transportation services offered by Shenzhen Western Port, CMHI spokesman Wang Hongyuan said: "South China Cold Storage is part of the integrated resources facilitated by China Merchants Group to cultivate an efficient logistics environment in Shenzhen Western Port."
The CIQ Designated Cold Storage of SCSI, which is connected to the local customs IT system, also serves to expand the range of value-add services provided by Shenzhen Western Port and enhance the port's overall logistic efficiency and service offering.
