Administration of Primorski Territory eyeing construction of five container terminals

Administration of the Primorski Territory is eyeing options for construction of five new container terminals in the south of Primorie, PrimaMedia reports according to RZD-Partner. According to the source, container capacity of Primorie is 400,000 containers per year. Sergei Darkin, the Governor of the Primorski Territory, says it is necessary to increase the capacity to 2 millions by 2012 which is to contribute to development of the region’s economy. Besides, it will ensure positive dynamics of sea infrastructure development and appearance of new work places. Experts say, the south of the Primorski Territory is the most perspective region in terms of logistics development in the region and in Russia as a whole. New container terminals will make the region a large international logistics center linking APR and Europe.
