KoPT Chairman A K Chanda said the port handled 40,220 TEUs during the month under review, which was higher than January.
"This growth rate in container traffic at KoPT is the highest among all Indian major container handling ports," he said.
During the first 11 months of the current fiscal, the container traffic at KoPT increased by 72,093 TEUs to 3,87,724 TEUs, a rise of 22.84 per cent over the corresponding period last year.
The container traffic growth was higher at the Kolkata Dock System than Haldia Dock.
Commodities that contributed to growth of container traffic include electronic goods, chemicals, machinery, and aluminium products.
