Langa also said that the terminal would be built by private investors, which have already shown interest in taking part in the project.
In the last few months, users of Nacala port have increased their complaints about the exasperating slowness of processing cargo, which increases operating costs.
These complaints come mainly from container cargo operators, whose trucks have to wait for many hours, or even days for their cargo to be released from customs.
Rui Chong, one of the users of Nacala port, told Notícias that there are cases in which the waiting time to pick up goods was two to four days.
“With a dry port, packaging or unpacking of goods will no longer take place inside the port, which will allow us to have ore space to park containers,” a port spokesman said.
