Russia extends grain exports restriction

Russia has extended the effective period of prohibitive export duties on grain until July 1, 2008, Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev told journalists today following today's cabinet meeting, RBC reports. He pointed out that the duties would remain at 30 percent on barley and 40 percent on wheat.

Gordeyev added that the extension would allow Russia to accumulate enough grains on the domestic market and protect the Russian market from unexpected price increases on the global market.
