Incheon International Airport currently ranks as the fourth largest cargo handler in the world, whilst Busan Port ranks as the third largest global container handler.
The Korean government aims to turn Incheon international Airport, Busan Port and Gwangyang Port into an integrated, international logistics hub for providing high-value-added freight forwarding and shipping services to neighbouring countries.
The Korean Government is expanding inland logistics hubs and terminals to further improve the region's transportation network, whilst adjusting the allocation of transportation facility financing to increase investments in railways and seaports in order to expand the transportation network’s capacity.
Birkart Globistics established operations in Korea in 1999. In addition to its new Busan facility, the company also operates a local head office and logistics warehouse in Seoul, plus an airfreight centre in Incheon.
Birkart Globistics recently expanded its operations in Mexico and Australia, with the opening of its own offices in Mexico City and Puebla last month and in Brisbane in July last year - the company’s third office in Australia.
