China and Russia will hold boundary monitoring of water quality

With a view to preserve ecologic environment of trans-boundary basins China and Russia agreed to hold their joint monitoring. At present time Chinese and Russian experts have already completed water sampling in trans-boundary rivers and lakes. It's the first water sampling and joint monitoring of water quality in trans-boundary basins during freeze-up, Hailuntszyan province department on preservation of environment reported to the agency "Sinhua."

According to the agreement, made in the beginning of this year, the parties will hold the joint monitoring of water quality in 5 trans-boundary basins: the rivers Argun, Hailuntszyan (Amur), Ussuri and Suifenhei, and also the lake Sinkai (Khanka), "Sinhua" specified.

In the framework of the joint ecologic program in 2006 China and Russia have worked out "The Plan of joint monitoring of water quality in trans-boundary water objects." The joint monitoring was started in 2007 and will go on 5 years.

In 2002 Hailuntszyan province started cooperation with boundary districts of Russia in joint monitoring of water quality in boundary rivers.
