In January-February 2008, the port of Liepaja handled 790,200 tonnes of cargo (+27.1%, year-on-year), the port informs according to Gudok.Ru referring to Interfax.
In the reported period, transshipment of loose dry cargo amounted to 391,100 tonnes (+30.7%, year-on-year) including 266,800 tonnes of grain and grain product (+56.6%); general cargo - 215,700 tonnes (+1%) including 87,000 tonnes of ferrous metal and goods made of ferrous metal (-29.6%), 105,100 tonnes of timber materials (+69.3%); liquid bulk cargo - 183,400 tonnes (+68.2%) including 144,700 tonnes of oil products (+91.3%) and 27,500 tonnes of crude oil (-1%).
In the same period, the port of Ventspls handled 5.427 million tonnes of cargo (+15.6%, year-on-year), BNS agency learnt from Guntis Tirmanis, assistant to port manager.
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 3.681 million tonnes (+29.5%, year-on-year), loose dry cargo – 1.391 million tonnes (-5.1%), general cargo – 355,000 tonnes (-7.6%).
The port of Riga handled 4.694 million tonnes of cargo (+28.4%), the port informs. Transshipment of loose dry cargo totaled 3.062 million tonnes (+45.2%) including 2.153 million tonnes of coal (+56.9%), 849,000 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+13.6%) (including 839,500 tonnes of oil products (+13%) and 9,500 tonnes of liquefied gas, which was not handled in the port og Riga in January-February 2007. Transshipment of general cargo amounted to 783,200 tonnes (-2%) including 289,400 tonnes of containerized cargo (+17.9%), 368,200 tonnes of timber (-12.7%).
