In January-February, 2008, Commercial Port of Vladivostok OJSC increased its throughput by 56%, yoym to 950,800 tonnes, the company’s press center reports.
Transshipment of containers amounted to 36,834 TEU (+54%, year-on-year), automobiles and specialized equipment – 33,972 units (+7.5%).
In the reported period, transshipment of export cargo totaled 548,800 tonnes (+65%) including 387,600 tonnes of metal and hard components (up 3-fold). The growth should be attributed to increase of prices for steel feed at the market of South-East Asia and hence higher interest of Russian exporters in supply of SEA states with metal goods.
In January-February 2008, the port handled 225,600 tonnes of import cargo (+29%, year-on-year) including 11,792 TEU of container cargo (+45%).
Transshipment of coastal trade cargo totaled 176,400 tonnes (+74%, year-on-year) including 10,331 TEU of container cargo (+63%) and 78,900 tonnes of bulk oil products (up 2-fold).
In the reported period, Commercial Port of Vladivostok handled 528 vessels and 14,407 wagons.
