In January-February 2008, throughput of Nakhodka port grew by 15.4%, year-on-year, to 2.609.6 million tonnes of cargo, PortNews IAA learnt from Vostochny branch of RosMorPort FSUE. In the reported period, the port handled 1.616.5 million tonnes of dry cargo (+13%, year-on-year) including 262,400 tonnes of bulk and loose cargo (up 18.7 times). Transshipment of ore grew 5.8 times to 69,700 tonnes, coal and coke – up 96 times to 192,700 tonnes. In the 2-month period, the port handled 170,200 tonnes of timber (up 3.2 times). Transshipment of round timber fell 3.4-fold to 131,700 tonnes, sawn timber – down 2.6-fold to 38,500 tonnes. In January-February, the port handled 1.143.8 million tonnes of general cargo (+33.6%) including 981,500 tonnes of ferrous metal (+27.4%), 36,100 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+35.7%), 16,300 tonnes of scrap metal (-15.5%). Transshipment of refrigerated cargo grew to 9,000 tonnes, packaged cargo – up 2.3 times to 63,900 tonnes. The port’s container throughput grew 2.3 times to 7,477 TEU. Transshipment of oil products totaled 993,100 tonnes (+19.5%).
