Port Poti (Georgia) announces international tender for dredging works

Commercial Seaport of Poti LLC has announced an open international tender for dredging works at its approach canal, Gennady Kacharovsky, head of the port’s hydraulic engineering service reports according to Gudok.Ru referring to Interfax.

Tender documentation and specifications are available till April 10. The bidding period starts April 11-17, 2008. The volume of dredging works to be implemented till the end of 2008 is 1 million cubic meters. The 1,600-meter canal should be deepened to 12.5 meters.

The winner should provide a bank guarantee to the amount of 5% of the contract value. The equipment to be used should be registered with the Lloyd's Register of Shipping.

As it was earlier reported, an international competition has been announced for the right to lease the port and its adjacent territories in order to create Free Industrial Zone (400 Ha) for 49 years. The winner is to be named in April 2008. The participants of the final phase of the competition include DP and Jafza (UAE), Hutchison Westports (Great Britain) and Hamburger Hafen Und Logistic (Germany).

In 2007, the port’s throughput totaled 7.734 million tonnes of cargo (+15.7%, year-on-year).
