In the firs two months of 2008, amount of transshipments at the crude oil and petroleum products transshipment company Ventspils nafta terminals Ltd, which is a subsidiary of the joint stock company Ventspils nafta, has already reached 2.5 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products, and that is for 0.6 million tons more than during an analogue time period in 2007.
In February and January of 2008, more than 1.8 million tons of diesel fuel delivered via petroleum products pipeline and by rail, 0.4 million tons of gasoline of various grades transported by rail and 0.2 million tons of crude oil and petroleum product cargos delivered by sea were transshipped at Ventspils nafta terminals Ltd.
Increase of cargos at Ventspils nafta terminals Ltd can be observed in February of 2008 when the transshipment amount reached 1.25 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products, although it was the shortest month of the year. This amount included 0.95 million tons of diesel fuel delivered via petroleum products pipeline and rail, 0.2 million tons of motor petrol and other petroleum products transported by rail, and 0.1 million tons – cargos transhipped from the sea.
Since 2007, when Euromin Holdings (Cyprus) Limited, which is a company owned 100% by the international oil and gas consortium Vitol Group, the terminal has activated its operation. In 2007, the amount of transshipments of crude oil and petroleum products at Ventspils Nafta Terminals Ltd increased more than twice or by 133.3%.
Ventspils nafta terminals Ltd is a subsidiary of JSC Ventspils nafta. 51% of it belongs to JSC Ventspils nafta while 49% are owned by the Vitol company Euromin Holdings (Cyprus) Limited. The terminal renders transit services: reception of oil and diesel fuel via pipelines, as well as reception, storage and transshipment of crude oil, diesel fuel, motor gasoline and other petroleum products delivered by rail and sea.
