The Far Eastern Centre for Ship-Building and Ship-Repairing is being formed as planned. So was said at the meeting of the government commission for integration of enterprises of the shipbuilding industry of Russia in Moscow.
As the Primorsky Territory Administration reports, the creation of the United Shipbuilding Corporation and subsequent planning work were the main topics of discussion of the directors of regional sub-holdings within the corporation. The Primorsky Territory was represented by Vice-Governor Pavel POPOV.
As Mr. POPOV stressed, before federal state unitary enterprises (FSUE) can get integrated into the Far Eastern Centre for Ship-Building and Ship-Repairing, they must be reorganized into fully state-owned open joint stock companies (OJSC). It is planned that in April three enterprises, including the Zvezda plant, will undergo this procedure.
In experts' opinion, joint investment, technological, financial, and R&D policies of the United Shipbuilding Corporation and the Far Eastern Centre for Ship-Building and Ship-Repairing will allow Far Eastern enterprises to maximally load their capacities, work more efficiently, actively engage in large projects in Primorye.
In 2007, these enterprises built five and repaired 447 civil vessels. These figures can be much higher after the new structure is formed.
According to the RF President Decree of March 21, 2007, three sub-holdings, together forming the United Shipbuilding Corporation, will be created in Russia. These are the Western Centre for Ship-Building, the Northern Centre for Ship-Building and the Far Eastern Centre for Ship-Building and Ship-Repairing, an OJSC based in Primorye.
