PRISCO builds LNG carrier

Russian-Japanese consortium MOL-K LINE-PRISCO is going to complete the building of high technological LNG carrier “Grand Mereya”.
All operations at Japanese shipyard Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding are effected according to the schedule. As Mr. Valery Kazakovtsev, PRISCO’s representative, said the vessel had successfully fulfilled mooring trials and she was ready for final docking. At the end of March the new tanker which is going to transport liquefied natural gas from Sakhalin terminal Prigorodnoe will sail for sea trials.
Since November, 2007 a half of crew has been working onboard. Among seafarers who take part in ship delivery and equipment testing are Japanese, Russians and Philippines employees.
It is planned that at the beginning of May LNG carrier “Grand Mereya” will begin to work in compliance with long term time-charter concluded with “Sakhalin Energy” for the “Sakhalin – 2” project. The new tanker can transport approximately 147 000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas for each voyage.
