New features will include an intermodal terminal, which will allow customers to use different forms of transport to move their products, and a port shuttle service, designed to carry international cargo to and from Port Botany.
The shuttle service is expected to start during the second quarter of the 2008 financial year. The service will allow 10 train services a day to run from Port Botany to cities across Australia.
The Yennora site would have rail-based warehousing, allowing for the distribution of domestic and international products throughout Australia from a single facility. There will also be empty container storage, (and) repair and handling facilities.
Customs and quarantine services would also be on hand, removing the need for third party facilities for inspection and treatment.
