MSC to begin a new transpacific service next month

Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) is to begin a new transpacific service next month linking China’s Yantian with Los Angeles port without adding any ships.
MSC's weekly Condor Express will link Yantian, China, and Los Angeles via slot charters on Maersk Line's TP service. It's a step similar to CMA CGM's decision to team with Maersk on the transatlantic route to better control capacity.
MSC recently cut its own transpacific services, while Maersk has been restructuring its services worldwide.
Piggybacking on Maersk's capacity will improve its coverage in the important South China to California trade route.
In addition, MSC began a new direct service between New Orleans and the west coast of South America.
