Boxes moving through the Columbia River port fell 3.3 percent to 21,029 TEUs for the month.
The decline meant that Portland’s total box volume for January and February increased by a modest 3.3 percent to 43,122 TEUs, reversing a long string of double-digit increases.
The flat performance was also reflected in the port’s import and export numbers. Outbound containers through February increased 1.7 percent to 23,902 TEUs. Inbound boxes — once again bucking the general trend of import declines on the West Coast — increased 5.3 percent to 19,220 TEUs.
