Oil and gas sector standards to be discussed on May 20

The Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology

On May 20, deputy head of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology Sergey Pugachev will take part in the conference “Oil and Gas Equipment Standardization” (STANDARTNEFTEGAZ-2008).  Pugachev will tell about the current status and prospects for development of standardization in the oil and gas sector. Today, many of the industry standards are outdated and need to be modernized and harmonized with internationally recognized standards.  The old requirements hinder development of oil and gas equipment export and slow down equipment production in the domestic market. Standardization development in Russia is especially important after large scale offshore projects have been launched.

Pugachev is deputy head of the Technical Committee for Oil and Gas Sector Standardization that is headed by member of the board of OJSC “Gazprom” Vlada Rusakova.  STANDARTNEFTEGAZ-2008 conference will be attended by representatives of OJSC “Gazprom”, AK “Transneft”, OJSC “Rosneft”,  OJSC “TNK-BP”, OJSC “Surgutneftegaz” and other companies.
