Throughput of National Container Company up 22.3% to 581,044 TEU in Jan-Apr, 08

In January-April, 2008, throughput of National Container Company grew by 22.3%, year-on-year, to 581,044 TEU, the company informs.

In the four-month period, container throughput of First Container Terminal (FCT, St. Petersburg) totaled 350,370 TEU (+16%, year-on-year). In April the terminal handled 93,971 TEU (+12.7%, year-on-year) including 46,487 TEU of export containers and 47,484 TEU of import containers. Turnover of refrigerated containers made 12,878 TEU (+41% against April 2007). In April 08, the terminal handled 66 vessels with average turnover of 1,424 TEU per vessel.

Container throughput of Novorossiysk Nodal Transporting and Forwarding Company (NUTEP) amounted to 51,374 TEU (+22.1% against January-April 07). In April the terminal handled 14,274 TEU (+37.6%, year-on-year) including 7,239 TEU of export and 7,035 TEU of import. Loaded/empty container ratio was 63% against 37% respectively. In April the terminal handled 8 vessels with average turnover of 1,784 TEU per vessel.

In January-April 08, container throughput of Iljichevsk container terminal (Ukrtranscontainer, Ukraine) totaled 179,300 TEU (+37.9%, y-o-y). In April the terminal handled 49,696 TEU (+55.7%) including 26,006 TEU of export and 23,690 TEU of import. Loaded/empty container ratio was 59% against 41%.

NCC assets include First Container Terminal (port of St. Petersburg), Nodal Transporting and Forwarding Company of Novorossiysk (NUTEP, port of Novorossiysk), Iljichevsk container terminal (Ukrtranscontainer, Ukraine). NCC is owned in equal shares by First Quantum Group and Far East Shipping Company OJSC.
