Sea Port of St. Petersburg opens automobile terminal at the territory of Third Stevedoring Company

Sea Port of St. Petersburg OJSC has opened an automobile terminal at the territory of Third Stevedoring Company. The terminal’s annual capacity is 80,000 automobiles. The first vessel was handled at the terminal on May 6, 2008. The project valued at over RUR 260 million will make it possible to transfer the considerable part of cargo flow traditionally handled by the ports of Finland to the port o St. Petersburg, which is to cut the terms and costs of cars delivery to the customers thus decreasing the load on check points at Russia-Finland border.

In April 2008, Russian Transport Lines OJSC signed a contract of joint cooperation with Sea Port of St. Petersburg OJSC in logistics servicing of automobiles at the terminal.

In 2007, Sea Port of St. Petersburg started implementation of an integrated program for the group’s development till 2011. It envisages construction of new and upgrading of the existing facilities as well as transport infrastructure development. Investments into the program to total RUR 19 billion.
