Rosneft to raise bunker sales to 10 million tonnes by 2015

By 2015, Rosneft plans to raise the sales of bunker fuel to 10 million tonnes, the company informs. According to the company’s report, a total of 1.5-1.7 million tonnes of bunker fuel is planned by Rosneft to be sold in 2008. Rosneft started bunker operations from November 2007 at the company’s own terminals in Nakhodka, Archangelsk and Murmansk. Considering the company’s strategy on bunkering development this business is to be developed at major Russian ports in the Far East, North, Noerth-West of Russia as well as at the Black Sea and inland waterways. In 2009—2010 the company plans to enter the international market. In April 2008, bunker fuel was shipped from Samara and Achinsk refineries to St. Petersburg, where the first vessel was fueled in the Big Port. As of May 8, 30 vessels were fueled in the Gulf of Finland with 10,000 tonnes of bunker fuel. In May 2008, St. Petersburg is to get 50,000-55,000 tonnes of marine fuel from Rosneft refineries.

According to Rosneft, the company also entered river bunkering market. As soon as the navigation started the company commenced fuelling of sea-and-river tankers participating in supply of heavy fuel oil from Samara refineries to storage tankers. Monthly sales of bunker fuel at inland waterways in Syzran, Kazan, Yaroslavl, Cherepovets, Volgogra and Moscow is to make 20,000 – 25,000 tonnes. By June-July 2008, the company’s monthly sales are to make 150,000 – 170,000 tonnes.

On April 24, 2008, Rosneft registered its 100% subsidiary RN-Bunker LLC. In May the company’s representative offices are to be opened in Nakhodka, Archangelsk, Petersburg and Tuapse.
