Throughput of LDz Cargo Ltd up 14.5% to 18.6 million tonnes in Jan-Apr, 08
In the first four months of this year LDz Cargo Ltd, subsidiary of SJSC Latvijas dzelzcelš, has carried 18 645 thousand tons of cargos, which is 14.5% more than in the respective period of 2007, when there were carried 16 289 thousand tons of cargos.
The biggest increase in amounts – 15.9% import transportations, ie. 15 606 thousand tons. In domestic traffic there were carried 11% more cargos, ie. 537 thousand tons. Amount of export transportations reached almost the same level compared to 2007, ie. 729 thousand tons. Compared to the first four months of 2007 overland transportations this year have increased by 10.7% and reached 1773 thousand tons.
In the first four months of this year there were carried mostly oil products and coal, 7137 thousand tons and 5782 thousand tons of cargos, respectively. Compared to the respective period of 2007 transportation of oil products has increased by 23.3% and coal – by 27%. Amount of unit cargos increased by 15.6%; from January till April 2008 there were carried 19 008 TEU units. Transportation of grain also increased; amount of reloading reached 485 thousand tons, which is almost 73% more than last year. Only amount of mineral fertilizers decreased by 21%.
