In January-April, 2008, throughput of Nakhodka port grew by 28.2%, year-on-year, to 5.777.0 million tonnes, PortNews IAA learnt from Vostochny branch of RosMorPort FSUE. In the reported period, transshipment of dry cargo totaled 3.578.4 million tonnes (+23%, year-on-year) including 666,300 tonnes of bulk and loose cargo (up 15.4 times, year-on-year). Transshipment of ore grew by 3.5 times to 138,100 tonnes, coal – by 130.7 times to 496,600 tonnes. In the 4-month period, the port handled 352,000 tonnes of timber (down 3.2 times against January-April 07) including 258,900 tonnes of round timber (down 3.6 times) and 93,100 tonnes of sawn timber (down 2.1 times). In January-April, 2008, the port handled 2.464.9 million tonnes of general cargo (+46.1%) including 2.062.9 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+36.5%), 81,000 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+65.6%) and 50,000 tonnes of scrap metal (+8%). In the 4-month period, transshipment of refrigerated cargo amounted to 14,600 tonnes (+14.1%), packaged cargo - 150,500 tonnes (up 2.6 times). The port’s container throughput grew by 2.3 times to 19,035 TEU. Transshipment of oil products amounted to 2.198.6 million tonnes (+37.5%).
