Throughput of Ukraine’s state ports up 7.2% to 43.26 million tonnes in Jan-Apr, 08

In January-April, 2008, Ukraine’s state ports (19 commecial seaports) grew by 7.2%, year-on-year, to 43.26 million tonnes, Ukraine’s ministry of Transport and Communications reports. In the same period of the previous year the port complex of Ukraine increased its throughput by 16.9%, year-on-year, RZD-Partner reports. In the reported period of the previous year transshipment of transit cargo grew by 32.9%, in 2007 – by 19.5%, in January-April of the current year – by 2.1%. Total transit of January-April 2008 amounted to 17.962 million tonnes (39.5% of total throughput). In 2007, the share of transit was 41.9% of state ports’ total throughput.
