Malaysian-based Star Cruises Group saw its Q3 net profit increase by 82.9%, from US$33.0m to US$60.4m, compared with Q3 last year but its first nine months results show a net loss of US$8.6m compared to a net profit of US$43.6m in the same period last year.The group which includes Star Cruises and NCL increased capacity during Q3 by 17.7% from 2.3m to 2.7m capacity days and over the nine month period capacity was up 17.9% on the equivalent period last year.Expansion of the fleet yielded economies of scale with Q3 ship operating expenses per capacity day down by 0.4%. Ship operating expenses excluding fuel costs per capacity day were down by 2.6%. Selling, general and administrative expenses per capacity day decreased by 12.7%.However while, for the first nine months net revenue increased by 17.9%; net revenue yield decreased by 1.1%.
