Transshipment of transit cargo in Finnish ports up 39.3% to 2.5 mln t in Jan-Apr, 08

In January-April, 2008, the volume of transit cargo handled by the ports of Finland amounted to 2.51 million tonnes (+39.3%, year-on-year), Finnish Port Association informs. In the reported period, the volume of transit cargo exported by the port totaled 1.3 million tonnes (+70.4%), imported – 1.2 million tonnes (+16.5%).
In the 5-month period, the port of Kotka handled 986,100 tonnes of transit cargo (+31.4%), Hamina – 597,200 tonnes (+33.8%), Kokkola – 565,250 tonnes (+167.8%), Hanko - 259,200 tonnes (-7.9%), Turku – 44,400 tonnes (+32.9%), Helsinki – 61,400 tonnes (-23.4%).
