Hanjin launches INX service

South Korean shipping line Hanjin is to launch a new service linking Singapore, India and Sri Lanka with the Mediterranean Sea and the US east coast starting on December 2.Eight vessels in the 3,500-4,000 TEU capacity range will be deployed in the service, which Hanjin is involved with three other partner carriers, which have not been named in the company statement.
INX will provide weekly, fixed weekday service with each of the four parties deploying two vessels. The statement added that the SINA service would cater for cargo in the South East Asia to US east coast as well as the India to US east coast markets.
With east and westbound calls at Port Said, the new service will provide competitive transit times to/from Egypt and the east Mediterranean markets. The port rotation of the new INX service is Singapore, Colombo, Nhava Sheva, Pipavav, Port Said, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Port Said, Jeddah, Colombo and Singapore.
Transit time in the Nhava Sheva to New York market will be 18 days, and Singapore to New York will be 25 days, the statement said.
