Trawler heaved off successfully off Kamchatka Peninsula

An operation on heaving off the Orchik-2 trawler has successfully completed in Avachinskaya bay on the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky roadstead, Kamchatka Peninsula, Itar-Tass reports. The vessel is being towed to the port for inspection and provision with all necessary things.

Nobody of 31 crewmembers who remained aboard the trawler, was injured, Itar-Tass learnt on Tuesday at the press center of the Kamchatka branch of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies.

The Otkrytie trawler and Kovshovy tugboat brought the vessel to high seas. The operation was carried out under difficult conditions with a heavy rain and rough seas.

The Orchik-2 was torn off the anchors late in the evening on November 13. Attempts to bring it back to the anchorage ended in a flop. Following four hours of drifting, the trawler which ran out of fuel, took the ground between the capes of Kazak and Seroglazka.

The ship is owned by the Vostoktransservis Company and registered at the Vladivostok port. It had been arrested by borderguards for poaching and confiscated in favor of the state by a court ruling in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. However, the responsibility for the vessel still rests with the ship owner.
