Bunker fuel sales in the port of Singapore hit record high of 2.556 million metric tonnes (mt) in October, official data from the local port authority showed. The world's largest bunkering port saw bunker sales in October rose 13.5% from year-ago levels of 2.252 million mt and up 6% from September's figure of 2.411 million mt, according to preliminary estimates by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The lion's share of bunker sales rests with 380 centistoke (cst), posting 1.798 million mt of sales last month, up 3.6% from 1.736 million mt in September and up 14.7% from year-ago levels. Sales of marine gasoil (MGO) recorded a 3.4% rise month-on-month, posting 138,900 mt in October compared to 134,300 mt in September, MPA data showed. High-viscosity 500 cst bunker fuel posted 309,900 mt in October, rising 23.5% from month-ago levels of 251,000 mt. Total bunker sales for the first ten months this year hit 23.33 million mt, up 9.8% from 21.25 million mt over the same period last year. Last year, bunker sales in Singapore touched record high of 25.48 million mt. Going by the impressive sales figure this year, the republic is well on track to break last year's record.
