Vyborg Shipyard to lay down the first semi-submersible floating drilling rig for Gazprom

Vyborg Shipyard JSC will lay down the first semi-submersible floating drilling rig for Gazprom today, the company’s press center informs.

According to RBC, the contract for construction of semi-submersible floating drilling rigs valued at RUR 59 billion was signed by the companies in autumn 2007. In August 2007, Vyborg Shipyard won the tender for construction of two semi-submersible floating drilling rigs for Gazflot. Vyborg Shipyard will build the hulls and upper decks of the drilling rigs. The first one s to be delivered to the custom in October 2010, the second one – in March 2011.

Vyborg Shipyard was founded in 1948. Today it specializes in construction of sea platforms for development of the fields at the self as well as in construction of small and average capacity vessels. In 2007, the company’s loss under Russia Accounting Standard totaled RUR 141.198 million.
