PKN Orlen plans to acquire remaining shares of Mazeikiu Nafta
Vojciech Heydel, chairman of the board of directors of the Polish Concern PKN Orlen, expressed interest in the possibility to purchase the remaining state-owned shares in Mazeikiu Nafta and to acquire part of the holding in Klaipedos Nafta at the meeting with Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas on Thursday.
At the meeting with Kirkilas, the members of the new board of directors of PKN Orlen also discussed the prospects of the erection of the product pipe from Mazeikiai to Butinge and Klaipeda, informs ELTA.
According to Heydel, Mazeikiu Nafta is highly interested in the transportation of its products directly to Poland via railway instead of transferring it via Belarus, the way it is now, and in the renewal of the railway line via Skuodas and Latvia to Butinge. This would shorten the present route by 90 kilometers.
Mazeikiu Nafta, according to Heydel, processed 832,500 tonnes of crude oil over the first quarter of this year, an increase of 60% year-on-year.
