HK's June up 4pc to 2.01 million TEU year on year, Singapore rises 8.8pc to July 1
Figures from the Hong Kong Marine Department show the port handled 2.11 million TEU in June, an increase of 4 per cent over the 2.03 million in June last year, while year-on-year growth in the first half was 4.9 per cent to 12.06 million TEU.
Month-to-month growth in Hong Kong was up 0.4 per cent from the 2.10 million TEU handled in May.
Singapore reported a 11.5 per cent increase in container movement in the first six months of the year, having handled 15.02 million TEU compared to 13.47 TEU lifted in the same period last year. June volume stood at 2.52 million TEU against last year's June throughput of 2.32 million TEU, an 8.8 per cent increase.
Month-to-month Singapore growth was down 4 per cent from the 2.6 million TEU handled in May.
Month-to-month growth in Hong Kong was up 0.4 per cent from the 2.10 million TEU handled in May.
