Containership fleet capacity to spike by 7.3 percent by year end

AXS-Alphaliner reported the world's total containership fleet capacity is expected grow to 13.26 million TEU by the end of the year, or by 7.3 percent. The prediction has dropped from the 14.02 million TEU forecast in January.
According to Alphaliner, this means a far lower year-on-year growth rate than initially expected. Aphaliner said the revised growth rate was the lowest logged during this decade, due to the significant slippage of new vessel deliveries as well as record scrapping rates.
