FCT cargo turnover (St.-Petersburg) down by 13.6% in Jan.-Oct. 2009

Cargo turnover of the First Container Terminal decreased by 13.6% (to 851, 395 TEU) within  11 months 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008, reported press-service of National Container Company (NCC manages FCT). It is as well reported the cargo turnover of the terminal increased by 9.9% (101, 804 TEU) in November as compared to the corresponding period of 2008.

‘It is a record volume of cargoes ever handled in the terminal during all its history. A significant cargo turnover growth took place due to new vessels calls that increased the volume of import and refrigerating containers. Irrespective of almost full terminal loading strictly arranged system of outbound containers enabled FCT to work without breaks and delays,’ was reported

In November, 2009 49, 607 TEU was loaded on the vessels to be exported, 52, 197 TEU – unloaded for import. Refcontainers turnover amounted to 13, 821 TEU. ‘It is a record as well,’ maintained the report.

Overall number of vessels handled in November amounted to 82, average shipping turnover – 1, 242 TEU.

National Container Company (NCC) is the Russia’s largest container terminals operator, a leader in the stevedoring services market. First Quantum FESCO Transport Group holds equal share fractions of NCC. Overall box throughput of NCC’s terminals was over 1.7 mln TEU in 2008.

NCC assets include First Container Terminal (PKT), NUTEP container terminal (Novorssiisk), Ukrtranscontainer container terminal (Iliichevsk, Odessa region), Ust-Luga container terminal (Leningrad region) and backing container terminal and logistic centre ogistics-Terminal (Shushary, St.-Petersburg).
