Project of Sochi port cargo district creation is 50% completed. As PortNews IAA learnt from HR administration of Engineering Corporation Transstroy CJSC carrying out construction of the object, two port berths are prepared for vessels receiving to the date, general cargoes area is being completed. Completion of works in cargo district is expected late November-early December 2010.
It is worth reminding that Sochi cargo district construction with its coast infrastructure in the Mzymta river estuary and further re-specialization into yachting infrastructure is executed under order of FGUP Rosmorport and Basic Element Company. Implementation of the project of port construction will solve the problem of cargo delivery for sport objects erection for the Olympics 2014 in Sochi. The port complex will consist of cargo berths, port berths, wave-protective structures and coast infrastructure: warehouses, administrative-utility building, internal port roads, engineering utilities. The port will occupy the territory of about 800 m of coastline. It is designed to receive vessels of up to 5,500 tons carrying capacity and up to 140 m long. The water area of the port will be further reequipped into a marine for 400-500 yachts receiving.
