Italian shipyard Marghera Fincantieri has built a new liner Costa Deliziosa for Costa Cruises Company, reported Transport business. The liner has overcome 8 hours at a speed of 23 knots. An emergency stop was tested: all the engines were switched off at a full speed. Electronics was tested: for 6 hours the liner proceeded using automatic control of generators and engines. The liner has successfully passed all the tests.
The vessel shall be officially handed over to the owner on January 29, 2009. Building of Costa Deliziosa is a part of program on company’s fleet development under which it will build 5 liners by 2012. Total amount of the investments will be Euro 2.4 bln.
