Transas will supply ECDIS 4000, AIS systems, VHF stations, video surveillance system, onboard equipment. The System Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) can significantly improve traffic safety on the river, even in conditions of limited visibility. A major advantage of ECDIS is the possibility of using it as a blackbox - the voyage data recorder.
The above mentioned RSD44 project ships, currently named "Rechnik" (River Transport Worker) will be of larger payload capacity (up to 5 tones). The vessels will be equipped with single-tier deck that will allow them to pass under bridges in Rostov and St. Petersburg. The ships navigation will be automated, reducing the crew from the current 12 to 8 members. Besides, the ships will have increased maneuvering capabilities.
The multi-purpose dry cargo 5458-DWT ships Volga-Don max, the project RSD44, are being built by the Oka Shipyard, of the Marine Engineering Bureau design. These ships will be transporting general and bulk commodities, including 20- and 40-foot ISO containers. The vessels may carry metal and metal products, scraps, grain, timber, logs and lumber, potash and fertilizer, ammonium nitrate, sulfur, coal, building materials, paper and bulky cargo.
