Cargo turnover of MSFP rises 7.6% in Jan-Aug, to 185,000 tons

Freight turnover at Murmansk Sea Fishing Port JSC (MSFP) in January-August this year increased by 7,6% compared with the same period in 2009, to 185,000 tons. Over the last 8 months 768 fishing vessels called at port, the MSFP’s press service said.

This August, the stevedoring company offloaded 25,000 tons of fish, 31.6% up from last year’s volume.

"In September we plan to handle about 20 tons of fish products. This is mainly mackerel, herring, etc.", the Assistant Director General of MSFP Anton Artemyev said.

Murmansk Marine Fishing Port specializes in handling of fishing products from fishing boats, mother ships and refrigerator vessels. Russian government holds a 100% stake in MSFP through the Federal Agency for Federal Property Management and Russian Federal Property Fund, a specialized government agency. In 2009, MSFP’s throughput rose by 36% y-o-y, to 255,000 tons of fish.
