SASCO launches Shanghai-Vladivostok container line service

Sakhalin Shipping Company (SASCO) has launched a direct container line service to link Shanghai and Vladivostok. At the initial stage, one ship will be operating on a 12-day schedule on the service line. With further increase of freight traffic volume another vessel will be added to service  the line every week, the shipping company said.

Transit time of the Shanghai-Vladivostok service is 4 days. In Shanghai, the line vessels will be handled at the container terminal WGQ4, in Vladivostok - at the terminal VMCT. The first vessel is scheduled to call at Shanghai port in early September.

Vladivostok-Shanghai line will be connected with the coastal lines of SASCO at the ports of Korsakov, Magadan, and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, as with rail routes on the main domestic directions.

Sakhalin Shipping Company is currently the only company providing year-round transportation from the ports of De Castries, Vanino and Sovetskaya Harbor. The company operates a fleet of 21 ice-class Russian-flagged cargo ships (save ice breakers, tugs and other support vessels). The shipping company is servicing the ferry link between Sakhalin (Kholmsk) and the mainland (Vanino port). The major stockholder of Sakhalin Shipping OJSC is the Russian Govt., which owns a 25.5% stake in SASCO. Other shares are in ownership of 4,000 of private entities and individuals.
