The local Gov. noted that the establishment of the PSEZ in the port of Murmansk will be implemented in three phases. It is assumed that by 2025 the cargo turnover of the Murmansk port will exceed 100 million tons. Coal volume is expected to grow by 45 million tons, crude oil - by 22.3 million tons and containers - to 4.33 million TEUs and the 30-km-long railway line "Vykhodnoy-Lavna" will be built.
"This is a very important decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, which will give a great impulse to the development of the Murmansk region,” said Dmitri Dmitrienko. “About 3,000 new jobs are expected to be created and tax revenues to budgets of all levels will exceed 40 billion rubles. Plus, this will create a most-favored climate for investors, who will be working in projects of integrated development of the Murmansk transport hub and the Shtokman gas condensate field.
Russian Vice-Premier Sergey Ivanov had stated during the Maritime Board meeting on Oct. 2 in Murmansk that the document on the establishment of a economic zone in the port of Murmansk would be signed shortly.
Earlier, Viktor Olersky, deputy to Russian Transport Minister had also noted that the formation of special economic zone in the region would trigger the launch of the project of the Murmansk transport hub. According to the official, to date, two large investors - "Kuzbasrazrezugol" and "Siberian Business Alliance" are willing to invest in the MTH. In this case, according to Mr. Olersky most likely there will be a need to change the founders of "Management Company Murmansk transport hub."
