Novoship, part of Russia's largest shipping company Sovcomflot, and Venezuela's PDV Marina sea transport company have agreed to establish a joint venture, the two companies said on Friday.
Novoship and PDV Marina's officials signed the deal during Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez' visit to Russia.
The deal envisages setting up a joint venture and joint commercial operations of Aframax and MR ships. In the future, cooperation can be expanded to oil tankers, gas carriers and ships, chemical carriers and work on improving the export value of Venezuelan goods.
In April, Sovcomflot and PDV Marina signed an intention agreement to build tankers for Venezuela to transport oil and gas with the participation of Russia's United Shipbuilding Corporation.
